Local Attractions

Tuba City and our surrounding areas offer many exciting things to see or do. There are great places to visit and outdoor areas to explore. Pack a lunch and take the family for an outing—we promise you won’t be disappointed.

Dinosaur Tracks

Dinosaur Tracks, just west of Navajo Nation, is one of the most fun spots to visit in Navajoland. Not just because of the spectacle of seeing perfectly preserved footprints left clearly in the sandstone by a prehistoric creature some 200 million years ago, but also because of the colorful and engaging Navajos who sell arts and crafts (and sodas and snacks) just a few feet from the Jurassic tracks.

Coal Mine Canyon

This little-known canyon may be a tad difficult to find, but the views here are breathtaking and worth a little investigation. Reminiscent of the Grand Canyon with red rock formations, spend some time off the couch and explore the area. Please visit the link above for details and clues about how to find Coal Mine Canyon.
